Brilliant ideas don't just fall from the sky. It's a matter of thinking, field research and a bunch of experience.
By using my ears, eyes, empathy and some creative techniques I undergo experiences before creating them.
In my view it's all about the fray against fugly and the love for design that fulfills its function.
You won’t get another change after your first impression, but I created a 2nd layer after that first impression. The first impression is a defining moment where people can make up a stereotype of that person that mostly doesn’t really match reality. By very first I showed test persons a picture of a certain person with a short description based on preconceptions. The test persons formed a certain image. After this they opened the suitcase and saw the proverbial luggage of a person gained by different interview techniques. This astonished the test persons with their preconceptions and broke the formed stereotype. There is so much more to discover then just the outside.

Oerol is a Dutch music and art festival. There isn’t a good connection to the internet on the island where it takes place. With the focus point on the assumption that internet is a cause of stress, we concentrated on the mainspring of people to visit Oerol: rest and searching of conscience. Our team researched the deeper insights of the target group (festival visitors) by creative research methods like the cultural probe. After we gained the insights, we analysed it and made a data-visualisation. Individually we made a adapted customer journey with new touchpoints including the opportunities and bottlenecks.

For the course ‘Dare to Design’ I researched Nicholas Felton, a data visualiser. He is the author of several Personal Annual Reports, co-founder of Daytum.com and a member of the product design team at Facebook.
I wanted to create a website where you can meet Feltron step by step. Because Feltron isn’t just another information-designer, his work stands out from other designers by disclosing personal information. It’s all about getting to know himself through his data. He draws up certain personal goals, which he wants to accomplish in the upcoming year.

Hereby my honours portfolio. Within the honours program a multidisciplinair HP-lab is involved, very instructive and typical for this program and thereby one of the main points of my choice.
When I began this training I really was a layman and now I can’t imagine I made myself a website. By all the new competences within HP-lab I hope to develop myself even more. I’ll show my progress within this website and hopefully it will be honours-worth by the time I graduate.

Hello! I am Joyce Koornneef, a 23 year-old creative and curious working bee. In the everyday life I'm always looking for something new to create. And between you and me, I have a serious oats addiction.
Oh, here is my
Making notes and sketches is an essential part. At first, I break the rough assignment into pieces, till I am pretty much lost. During a lot of thinking and researching I go back to my design intention. At the end I bring my concept into existence within a prototype to ensure the customer gets the best experience.
I have a huge passion for crafting, cooking & baking & tasting, cheering up people with gifts and postcards and learning something new every day. Just like my cheery and studying 93 year-old great-aunt does.
Call me engineer, because last year I completed my bachelor Communication and Multimedia Design at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Special thanks to the great company IN10 Communication and my graduation professors.
Print & Priegel is the result of my thesis. A 3D designtool that makes 3D printing accessible for the home deco DIY-ers. It gives them new creative means and possibilities. The tool is aimed in particular on the experience of the fun and enjoyment of 3D printing, where users work towards and look forward to their 3D print.
All great, but now I am up to a new challenge. Time to find a new study, which gives me new positive shivers and jitters!
